Run for A Reason
Many people take on challenges and running is a popular one.
Are you taking on a personal running challenge, maybe starting a couch to 5K, running your first marathon or taking part in an ultra running event. Why not run for Jersey Cancer Relief and all funds raised will go towards easing the cost of cancer for islanders with a cancer diagnosis. You can set up a fundraising page either with Just Giving or Jersey based Sport Giving. Register today for your fundraising support pack and free T-Shirt.

A-Z of fundraising ideas
The easiest way to raise money is to ask your family, friends, neighbours, relatives,
colleagues and anyone you know to make a donation. Explain your commitment and why
you are involved to tell your story.
Ask your loved ones to donate instead of buying you gifts.
Turn your hobbies into a fundraising activity and get crafting.
Pick a theme and host your own fundraising party or come dine with me event with a group of friends.
Reach out to everyone in our network to ask for donations, then expand your reach by asking them to share your fundraising page.
Post your fundraising page on Facebook and tell your story behind why you are raising money for Jersey Cancer Relief.
Get your family and friends together for a fun day and or/night of board games, bingo or trivia. Maybe host the event at a local venue and charge an entry fee per player/team.
Set up an evening walking club and invite your neighbours to join in return for a small donation.
Share your fundraising campaign and story on Instagram and encourage your followers to donate.
See what items you have that are old and unwanted and host a garage sale or attend a car boot with proceeds going to Jersey Cancer Relief.
Challenge yourself to break a habit while raising funds.
Share you fundraising page with your network on LinkedIn.
As your employer to match the amount you fundraise. Many companies have a matched giving policy.
Ask for a dress down day at school, college or work.
If you have a special occasion coming up, a big birthday or milestone date ask your family, friends and colleagues to donate instead of giving gifts.
Tone up those abs with a plank challenge. Get your work colleagues and friends to take part and see who can plank the longest and raise the most money.
Arrange a quiz night at a local venue and sell tickets to attend. Host the quiz yourself or get a local quizzer to help.
Take part in organised running events or set your own running goal from couch to 5K or take on an ultra-marathon.
Remember how fun these were when we were kids? You can create a simple hunt, give clues along the way and people pay to take part.
Host a tea party and sell tickets to attend. Have a theme or plan for a summer tea party in the sunshine.
Make do and mend is all the trend. Consider buying a year of second hand clothes and what you would normally spend on clothes put in a jar to raise funds.
What is your vice? Too much caffeine, alcohol or sugar – whatever your habit or vice is get your family and friends to support you with your efforts to give up. You can decide for how long you want to give up 30 days, 6 months or a year.
Ask guests to donate in lieu of gifts instead of buying wedding presents. You can collect cash in a bucket at the reception or create a fundraising page.
Stick a swear box in the office or at home to raise money. Each time someone makes a mistake they donate to the jar! Bonus: new swear-substitutes could replace swear words forever!
This is a fun challenge. Take on a ‘Yes day’ challenge where you have to say ‘yes’ to everything in exchange for donations. You can do this at work or at home with family and friends.
If your feeling energetic and looking to get active organise a Zumba class and ask for donations.

Skydiving was such a surreal experience that I would happily live again and again, and for a charity very close to my heart. Jersey Cancer Relief helped my family out in many ways over the 3 years my mum battled cancer. She would be extremely proud of both Catherine and I to be raising money in the hopes that we can help JCR continue their much needed support for local cancer patients and their families during a difficult time in their lives. I can never thank Jersey Cancer Relief enough for their help with my mum and my two little brothers, but I can scream and shout my gratitude from 12,000ft in the air!!
